Monday, September 24, 2012 - Voted "BEST REALTOR" in Edmonton!

Thanks to all my friends and past clients that voted!

Last week I received the Best of Edmonton 2012 people's choice award as "Best Real Estate Agent" in the city! 
I truly feel this is the most prestigious award of my whole real estate career. It wasn't about how many homes I sold. It's not about being a "Top Producer". It's about being recognized by the people I serve as being the BEST in our industry. 
WOW!!! That statement has some impact.

Over the weekend it has sunk in a little bit more and it lead me to think about exactly what it is I do that people felt made me deserving of such accolades. 
I've always been committed to providing above average service in my day to day dealings. This is not only with my clients but with the agents I deal with on a daily basis. We all know there is good, bad, and great in EVERY industry and that statement certainly rings true about real estate in Edmonton. 
The good news is that I do work with a number of excellent real estate professionals in Edmonton and the 80/20 rule appears to be in full effect. For those not familiar with the 80/20 rule it simply means that 80% of the business is done by 20% of the agents. On the surface that may appear that you have a 1 in 5 chance of choosing a great agent to help you with the buying or selling of property but that likely isn't the case. The truth is that there are some great agents that don't do a lot of business and there are a number of top producing agents that fall short in the quality of service they deliver to their clients.
So how does the 80/20 rule apply to quality of service? I believe that 20% of the agents in ANY area truly love what they do and are committed to doing the best job for their clients. I wish that automatically made them the most successful but I've come across too many examples of financially successful agents that really lack in the quality of service they deliver. They maintain a high level of financial success based on WHO they know not WHAT they know or HOW they serve their clients.

I am extremely grateful to be recognized as a leader in our industry. The real estate business I have built over the years has been through continuous effort, drive, and a commitment to quality.
I love what I do and I am fortunate to also be great at what I do.
